Linda Langhorst
Visual Arts (Painting, Drawing)
My work is grounded in reality; Viewers can usually recognize the stuff on my canvas. Most of my images center around the relationships between people and places. I look for how people express their attachments: their hands, the tilt of their heads, the way they hold themselves in relation to others nearby. These "portraits of relationship" have evolved into casual scenes that often include a musical theme.
Although I occassionally paint on site, most of the time I take notes and photographs for later reference. Most days I paint in the company of musicians and luthiers (guitar builders) inside a pretty cool music shop,The Guitar House Workshop in Columbus, OH, as their "artist in residence". I paint music making while surrounded by the musical experience. It's a pretty good fit.
