Koritha Mitchell, Author, Speaks about Living with Lynching in America

Koritha Mitchell, Author of "Living with Lynching: African American Lynching Plays, Performance, and Citizenship, 1890-1930"

Koritha Mitchell is a literary historian and cultural critic. She specializes
in African American literature, racial violence throughout U.S. literature and culture,
and black drama and performance. She examines how texts, both written and
performed, have helped terrorized families and communities survive and thrive. She
is author of "Living with Lynching: African American Lynching Plays, Performance,
and Citizenship, 1890-1930." Currently an associate professor of English at Ohio State
University, Dr. Mitchell earned her Ph.D. at the University of Maryland-College Park, and
her research has been supported by the Ford Foundation and the American Association
of University Women.
