Marie Losier Introduces "The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye"
Presented by Wexner Center for the Arts
"Losier's film captures the poignant paradoxes, the ecstasies and burdens, of the transformation of life into art."-Richard Brody, New Yorker
Winner of the Teddy Award for Best LGBT Documentary at the Berlin Film Festival, "The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye" is Marie Losier's moving and spirited portrait of the relationship between industrial music pioneer Genesis P-Orridge and his muse and collaborator, the late Lady Jaye. Losier captures all of the underground energy of Genesis's music with his groups Throbbing Gristle and Psychic TV, as well as the couple's most intimate work, a "pandrogenic" project of plastic surgeries intended to make them resemble each other. Losier is a 2011-12 Wexner Center Artist Residency Award recipient in film/video. (70 mins., video)
