Brass Band of Columbus
The Brass Band of Columbus (BBC) is a community brass band that began in 1984. The band's mission is to perform in a variety of community and educational settings to introduce and engage audience members in the brass band genre of music. The BBC is a member of The North American Brass Band Association (NABBA), which has over 1000 members in the U.S. and Canada. In April 2006, the BBC won the NABBA national championship for an unprecedented tenth time.
The band's membership includes forty-five of the city's finest free-lance, professional-level brass and percussion musicians, who volunteer their time to attend weekly rehearsals and present over twenty concerts per year. The BBC performs a wide repertoire of music, including, traditional brass band arrangements, orchestral transcriptions, marches, jazz, swing, big band and gospel. By mastering and performing a variety of musical genres, we appeal to a wide range of community members. We perform in diverse indoor and outdoor venues, including public parks, libraries, nursing homes, schools and concert halls.
