Earth Day 2009: Picture This!

Picture this: thousands of central Ohioans working together with shovels in hand planting trees, cleaning the banks of our scenic rivers, removing non-native species from parks, establishing vegetable gardens in communities, and otherwise beautifying the city we call home. Earth Day 2009 is on the horizon and it is going to be bigger, better and greener than ever before. Can you picture this?

For 2009, the Columbus Earth Day event is going to be split into two days. Saturday, April 18th will be for volunteer worksites and Sunday, April 19th for the celebration, which will take place in Goodale Park. The two day format was selected to increase participation at the worksites by offering volunteers both morning and afternoon options. Our goal is to encourage 3,000 volunteers to participate in 2009. We will also be growing the Goodale Park celebration by including more features and potentially a national music act.
