SegAway Tours of Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio: In June 2009, SegAway Tours of Columbus kicked off a welcomed addition to tourism in the capital city of Ohio with unique gliding tours that appeal to both visitors and residents alike. The tour combines the comfort and novelty of Segway i2 Personal Transporters and the rich history, beautiful parks and vibrant downtown attractions of the city of Columbus.

Founded, owned and operated by David Weller, SegAway Tours offers a two-hour excursion with over 50 points of interest that provides an entertaining and enlightening perspective of the city, while also enabling riders to safely go a longer distance. Among the points of interest on the tour are locations such as the Ohio State House, Central Ohio Fire Museum, the Ohio and Palace Theaters, LaVeque Tower, City Hall, COSI and the Santa Maria. Riders will also glide through North Bank Park, Goodale Park, the Arena District and the Short North Arts District.

“If people are new to the city, or are here on vacation, the SegAway tour is really a great way to let them explore their surroundings while learning some of the history and stories that have made Columbus such a great place to be, “states Weller. “And if someone has lived here for years, we’re hoping that these tours will help him or her see our hometown in a new light.”

Tours begin and end at The Greater Columbus Convention Center, where SegAway Tours of Columbus is headquartered. Led by experienced tour guides, each glide around the city includes a training session on the Segway before leaving the starting point. The outdoor tours are available from March through December.

Tours cost $55 per rider, and should be scheduled with a reservation. The company operates year-round and is available for special events, private parties, and corporate events.
